MLB is doing the right thing.
MLB is doing the right thing.
IMO half a season isn't a slap on the wrist, it's a big deal. Also proves he isn't as good as last years numbers say he was. So when he comes back his production will return to the dumpster or he will get caught again and get banned for a year.
Dee got off with no punishment. What a travesty for the clean players. Opps, I know there's no clean players in baseball ;-(
Different rules for professional non-Olympic sports.
Different scenarios:
- Russia -- found guilty of state-sponsored doping and collusion with the governing federation to cover-up, or delay sanctions; many athletes caught doping, a lot
- Kenya, Ethiopia -- countries not banned; some Kenyans caught doping, mostly slower Kenyans caught for "old" steroid; main problem is anti-doping; countries not sponsoring doping but doing too little to sponsor anti-doping
- Oregon -- state(?) not banned; neither athletes nor organisations found guilty of doping; there is no threat of being banned beyond one on-going investigation of one coach which might go nowhere for lack of jurisdiction
Nike sponsored pain killers and PEDS are a fact of life for the State of Oregon
Who would you expect to be likely to get away with doping?
Oregon: Nike HQ, unlimited money, best doctors, private research
Russia: less money, no major IAAF power brokers, average doctors/research
Kenya: no money, no clout, athletics federation owned by Nike payouts

It's all true though. The system supports doping.
Doping is not a crime and the IOC/NCAA/MLB/NBA works very hard to keep it that way. Enabling doping makes great money. Look at NOP. They are the easily identifiable standard for doping/performance.

It's the money they are making that leads to the need to doping.
