If you think words are talking to you (truth or false), then you need to go see a doctor.
Cherry picking current dates to compare to another cherry picked date (the "16 years ago") is dishonest. If that convinces you, then you are extremely gullible.
Longer than that.

People with college degrees have gotten a pay raise. Blue collar workers have seen a reduction in pay. That's capitalism. Some win and some lose. If you are a manual laborer and don't like a reduction in pay go back to school.
America has the most economic opportunity in the world. It's not perfect, but that's life.
Let's keep flooding the country with cheap foreign labor and we can avoid pay raises in the next 16 years too.

We definitely need another Internet revolution-esque economic advancement (which happened to take place under Clinton, though he had nothing to do with the technology). It increased productivity, but also was the beginning of the end of a lot of archaic jobs.
My friends and I all entered the workforce in the early 2000s. Literally every one of us makes at least double what our starting salary was. My workplace is a major engineering & manufacturing company- same story there- and very well paid mind you- everyone makes over double what they did in 2000. All the other majors in the area are the same.
The only explanation for the avg/median staying the same is the obvious labor participation decrease... The people of which aren't included in the unemployment rate. Which also explains why despite a great 5.0%ish u/e rate, everyone views the economy as shaky, and every time the Fed speaks, Wall Street craps their pants. Yeah I know, "a lot of Boomers are retiring", but technology has also wiped out many, many jobs, and of course globalization doesn't help either. No, I don't want to pay more for my goods either, but the facts are the facts.

Trump, Donald (The)
And yet everytime here that I've seen topics about coaches salaries theres a pack of a$$$holes in here who lecture everyone on sacraficing, volunteering, not expecting a high level of pay and pretty much scolding anyone who dares to say that it's a disgrace how low we are paid compared to basketball or football. Sometimes I wonder if track coaches hate themselves and others in the same job. P!ss off if you don't think every single college coach doesn't deserve at least a livable wage. Higher than that should be about success. Minimally there needs to be a fair pay.

No they don't. They don't all produce value. Your feelings don't matter.

What????
Trump's net worth --according to Forbes-- was about $1.5 Billion in 2000; $4.5 Billion last year. That's a 300% raise. Trump is part of the reason regular people haven't had a real pay raise. People like Trump are hogging the money for themselves.

You have no idea what you're talking about. His net worth went way up because the property values went way up (like most in NY). It's not like he witheld a bunch of cash from poor people.
your mom gave me a good raise

So you're against businesses doing what is best for their bottom line? How un-american! And how anti-capitalism!

I'm an American and I've had 3 pay raises in 3 years. So yes HARDWORKING Americans have received raises. Nobody will give you a raise if you don't provide any value.

The median 53 y/o today has a net worth of about $84K. In 2000 that was probably like $60K if that. The median 69 y/o has a net worth of $194K today. So the average American of Trump's age has seen the same growth in net worth.

Your a moran. By not sharing his windfall he withholds cash from regular workers, not just "poor people." This thread was about Americans falling backwards in terms of pay increases.
Meanwhile, Trump is poor. He is very poor. Sadly poor. His expenses and business are swallowing his loot.
"Donald J. Trump earned just $14,222 in salary. He owes at least $265 million in debt. He is paid about $250,000 per speech. And he received $110,000 from a pension with the Screen Actors Guild."
http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/07/22/f-e-c-releases-donald-trumps-financial-disclosure-statement/?_r=0The only thing that raises wages is increased demand for labor. The more we antagonize employers with taxes and regulations on labor (anti-discrimination laws, ObamaCare, minimum wage, etc.), the lower the demand for labor is going to be.
