do 800m runner count as distance in your question?my high school 4x800m team (7:50) ran 3:21.3 at the state meet and got 2nd to another 4x800 relay teamalso, my team had me in the open 800m, another teammate in the 1600m, and one in the 4x200m relay.two of us were 16:1x's 5k guys.(BTW, 400-800m high school runner is how you win state meets)

Well, my team in hs did that and we ran like 3:35. Before you jump all over me saying that isn't good, they weren't exactly stellar distance guys. The guys that ran that were a 4:51 miler, a 4:52 miler, a 9:50 2 miler, and a 1:54 800 guy, who was an 800/1600 type. So there was only one guy on that team that had any business in a 4x4. I feel like a team with a bunch of really good 800 runners like Great Oak could run close to 3:20.

same here, we had a bunch of XC runners (16:00-17:20 guys) run 3:29. that's like 52 splits for 4 guys. nothing crazy. i'm guessing a school like CBA could get three distance runners 50-51.xx guys and another 48.x guy and go sub 3:20
