Is Kipchoge the GROAT.
Bekele no doubt takes the biscuit for me on the track. But in terms of track & road success, as well as PRs - is Kipchoge the GROAT?
Does Haile figure in the GROAT standings? ðŸ

He doesn't figure in, Haile IS the GROAT.
Yeah gotta go with Haile cause of that 3:31 indoor 1500 he ran
2:03:05 at London/competitive field trumps 2:03:59 at Berlin/setup attempt by a much wider margin than 3:31 v. 3:50M.Eliud #1, Haile #2

3:31.8 (i) vs. 3:33.2
7:25.1 vs. 7:27.7
12:39 (WR) vs. 12:45
26:22 (WR) vs. 26:49
58:55 (WR) vs. 59:25
2:03:59 (WR) vs. 2:03:05
I'd say Runner A has better range than Runner B.

Step into the Way Back Machine and remember Rod Dixon who was 1sec from the 1500m WR and about 40sec from the Marathon WR but he did his Marathon in New York vs Deek's WR in much faster Fukuoka.
There are probably others.

What's any of that got to do with being the GROAT.
Once Upon A GROAT? Rod definitely deserves mention in this discussion, given his pioneering in this area.
It's about being the GROAT wrote:

📯📯📯All hail the Emperor Haile📯📯📯
Wrong Choge. Eliud is great range from long distance to long distance which is no big deal. A lot of 5000m stars make good marathoners.
The true GROAT is AUGUSTINE Choge who is the only man in history to run sub 1:45, sub 3:30 (on a non-rigged track!), sub 7:30 (lots of times!) and sub 12:55 (which Said Aouita didn't.) That is range from long sprint to long distance which is much greater.
Already nobody can compare to Augustine but obviously he will eventually move up to 10000 and marathons and add sub 27 and sub 2:02 to his resume.

I believe you've missed just about every relevant distance in between the 1500m and the Marathon.

I'd say sub 1:44 & sub 13 (Aouita) is more impressive than sub 1:45 & sub 12:55 (Augustine Choge).
Of course, Aouita was a drug cheat so his accomplishments should be discounted.
Look up the definition of "range".

Very well done. You caught yourself and qualified your own opinion.
I like that..."Hey, wait a second...Aouita was a drug cheat."

Maybe, if you deliberately ignore the many sub 7:30's and the many sub 13's compared to Aouita's one.
