Following an 18 week program. I just ran a 5 mile race in 28:49 using performance predictors I could run a marathon just under 2:50 (I know 5 miles isn't the best predictor). 2:50 is my goal pace.
I don’t want to train at the same paces for 18 weeks. Do I use 2:50 to base my workout paces from the start or a little slower so I have room to improve?
Or do I start with paces geared to 2:50 and hope to be able to run 2:45 at the end. I'll run some races along the way to help guide.
This will be my second Marathon and last time my paces were stagnant during my training program. This time I would like to use more of a progression.
