Hey all you running bros out there.
I am doing a marathon in 3 weeks and I'm not sure what I should try to shoot for, and figured you all would be able to help.
I started this training cycle in December way out of shape from injury and overweight at 25yrs, 5'11" and 195lbs. I did a 10k to see where I was in January and ran an all time slow at 43 minutes... I was doing 37s before I got hurt. I was pissed, but also very motivated. I have since dropped to about 182. I have done a few 10k TT at around 41 and 5ks at around 19:30 in the past few weeks and a half in 1:30:58 two weeks ago. I have put in two runs over 20 miles (20 and 21.5 at about 7:50 pace each). I have also kept relatively low mileage (started at 20 and peaked at 52) running 4-5x a week with a TT, Tempo, 1 or 2 easy runs, and a long run.
I did a 3:28 off crappy training 5 years ago. Only got up to like a 17 mile long run because I got bored of training after a warm up race. During the race i crashed at mile 19 and did the last 10k at 9:30 pace. I was 170lbs then.
I would really like to break 3hrs at some point, but realize it won't happen in this one. What do you think I should shoot for in 3 weeks? Do you have any advice for tapering that could help me?
