Hi,
I've been in a contract to hire role at an engineering company for roughly 18 months. They aren't hiring me any time soon and it's upsetting to me. Other than that the position isn't awful.
I'm meeting my point of contact at the recruiting company (Aerotek) for lunch as we do every few months. I've been considering bringing up to them that I'd like to be considered for other positions that they are trying to fill, both for a change of pace and new experience, and also out of frustration for not being brought on after 18 months.
What I'm worried about is that this could possibly screw me over. I'm worried they'll recognize that I am at risk of leaving and get rid of me all together. On the other hand, the recruitment company knows of my track record at my current position and knows I'm a desirable candidate for similar positions.
I assume that they want me to stay here indefinitely, to continue to collect their commission from my contact engineering job. So any deviation from that is a negative.
So should I confide in my recruiter that I want something new? Or should I stay hush hush and continue to pretend that I couldn't be happier in a million years with a big smile on my face?
