Yet another potential GOAT is retireing. This is the equivalent to Kobe's retirement for T&F.

Boston marathon finisher Chris Chavez has a story on SRR's retirement here:
Expect a juicy last lap with a quiet pardon
I remember watching her back in high school, when she was 2nd fiddle to Erica Whipple
Thank goodness!
She's always been one of my favorites. Class act, beautiful, well-spoken and, recent injuries aside, remarkably consistent. We'll miss you, Sanya!

I think Erica was a year older than Sanya and I think Sanya use to beat Erica in the 200m. Richards and Felix were in the same grade but for some odd reason, to the best of knowledge, they never raced each other.

That is correct. Sanya also was racing and jumping every event.
I was in high school at that time in Broward County when the likes of Sanya, Walter Dix, and Michael Frater all came through. I didn't pay attention to track and field while I was in college and then watching the 2008 olympics I was amazed to see all these names.
But then always made me wonder what happened to Whipple
Bump

She is making a big assumption she make the team.
Her only real chance is the relay pool not as an individual.

Erica had a good college career, won some SEC titles and multiple times NCAA all-American. She was at USC (South Carolina) during the early to mid 2000s when they were loaded with talent. Soloman, the Barber twins and some fast Jamaicans. From memory, she never made a national team and didn't run any faster In college than she did in H.S., was still plenty fast. There is a long history of short powerfully built sprinters, like Erica, Angela Williams and Ashley Owens for example peaking in H.S. or college. I think Dawn Sowell was short as well.

You meant "used to" and Allyson Felix graduated in 2003 and is 30 yo now. Sanya Richards was a 2002 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale and is 31 now.
