Soccer players run 7-10 miles per game, sometimes even more. A lot of that mileage fast. What do you think top athletes known for their speed, like Ronaldo or Messi could run in an 800?
I think close to 1:50.

Maybe 1:55, but if they did some specific training it wouldn't take long for those gifted athletes to break 1:50.
Messi was fed steroids throughout his childhood. He should easily run sub 1:50
No one is running 7-10 miles per game. Maybe you meant kilometers?
Either way a 90 minute 10km isn't really impressive if you ask me.
Maybe Messi could run sub 2 if he's running from taxes.
Top footballers run between 10 and 12k per game, so about 6-7 miles- look it up mate.
6-7 miles does not equal 10 miles.
6-7 miles ~ 9.5 - 11.25 km
So 10k about bang on.
Messi and Ronaldo are both good at short burst of speed. Would run an OK 100m. 800m would suck.
Think how a sprinter like Gay or Blake would be on a football pitch. They could easily jog about a bit for 90 minutes and then accelerate when needed for up to 30m at a time.
I disagree that top soccer players are 100m types. Highschool soccer players hop onto track teams and end up being very good 400/800 types all the time
Ronaldo is tall and lean, generally athletic and known to do repeat 200s to train, so likely sub-2 without much trying. Messi is stubby and covers about 7km a game, much of it walking. I'd be surprised if he could break 2:30, not that he cares since he's the greatest player ever.

Look it up from some crazy LIAR. The only way a soccer player runs 10k is if you measure the vertical distance traveled when they flop.
The vast majority of them are standing around or walking the vast majority of the time. No way are they running more than a third of the time, and they damn sure aren't going at 30 minute pace, what with handling the ball and dealing with defenders.
Cristiano Ronaldo tested to the limit.
Gareth Bale ran 2:24 at the age of 12. So I'd venture to guess they could break 2 fairly easily.

Not true. He was fed growth hormones because he was too short.
He is still pretty short so I think he would be better in the 1500. He would have no chance against Ronaldo in the 800.
Still, keep in mind those two are among the greatest athletes ever lived.
Ronaldo: 1:47 potential, right now 1:52
Messi: 1:53 potential, right now 2:02

Messi is a Lionel Manzano.
Ronaldo is an Evan Jagger kind of guy who is faster.
Ronaldo would own MEssi.
2:33
I always thought about posting something like this but didn't know if there were some football fans.. anyways Ronaldo would kill Messi in a 800m race. Messi is a 1500 guy with his quick cadence and might run it like Nick Symmonds but imagine Gareth Bale or Aubameyang. Gareth Bale can probably run a sub 150 if trained properly he's known to have ran as a teen. Ronaldo would be that 400 guy moving up to the 800 but would have no problem with it.
Over 2 minutes. 2:10-2:15. People on letsrun really over exaggerate other athletes running time
I think you are underestimating how easy it is for athletic people to run fast.
I'd be surprised if it were slower than 2:05
Guys on my high school soccer team would show up and do that off soccer training. Basketball players would show up and run 50-51 off of basketball training

They would qualify for the NAIA track and field national championship with that time.

What does height have to do with anything?

they are fast but not as fast as some people here say they here. And b.s about basketball players running 50 seconds 400 meters that state championship level time for high school boys. You over exaggerate athletes running times like everyone else here does
