Curious to hear what you white folks think about that.

Harriet Tubman was a gun toting, religion clinging Republican. I wonder what some of the anti-gun folks think.
So the government is just going to switch the 20$ bill and make the ones I have already worthless...
Never happen
It can really only be a positive change I suppose? I would assume it would make a small amount of people feel happy while no one else really cares at all. Personally couldn't care less who was on a piece of paper in my wallet.
Great, now the 20 dollar bill is only gonna be worth $12
isn't there supposed to be an indian chief on one of the bills now?
Wait til they find out she was a deeply religious Christian. Uh-oh. I don't think there's any evidence that she was gay or transsexual either, so the people who thought this choice was politically correct are just showing what kind of old school bigots they really are.
They blew their chance.

I think we should all read some articles celebrating Confederate Heritage Month on David Neiwert's blog
http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2016/04/confederate-heritage-month-massacre-at.htmlI'll bet she used the woman's bathroom too. Disgusting.

Jackson killed a man in a gun duel. He was also a Freemason. He was considered a Democrat-Republican. The democratic party did not exist while Jackson was in office.
Could have been RuPaul. But I guess she is a man, kind of, which would just be more of the same old patriarchy, kind of.
Tubman is a good choice. She had guts and was a solid person. There are a lot of good women who should be on the money. We ought to have more people grace our money. It should be more like stamps, where every once in a while you get one with Jimi Hendrix on there.
I don't have a problem with Harriet Tubman replacing Jackson (a dubious choice at best to put on there in the first place). I would actually prefer that no real-life person's image be on currency and that we go back to depictions of Liberty. Of course, putting a "classically beautiful" image on there might hurt someone's feelings and we'd probably end up with a she-male Liberty.

WHITE FOLKS?
Hell, it doesn't matter the skin color. I know more about Harriet Tubman than most "black folks"
I was in a Black History class in 1992, and it was at 10:00 AM Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I was on time every class. The majority of the class was black, and they were almost always late. the professor was black and he laid into them. Told them they were an embarrassment. That the "only white dude" was always on time and had the highest GPA in his class.
How did the black classmates react? Did they "rise up" and meet the challenge. NO. They waited until after class and told me to "cool it" and the I was "making them look bad"
Note to former classmates: get your lazy black ass out of bed before 9 AM and get to class on time.
Harriet Tubman deserves to be on the U.S. Currency. the change is not final for 15 years. There are many others that deserve the honor. How about Frederick Douglas? FDR? Joshua Chamberlain? Hannah Adams? Abigail Adams? Clara Barton? Julia Ward Howe? Cathay Willams (AKA William Cathay)? Elizabeth Blackwell? Eleanor Roosevelt?

SEVERELY underrated comment. Good work, sir. I actually laughed at this one. It's people like you that make letsrun worth it.
White Southern Gun-Owning Christian Male here...
Without getting into whether one of the current faces deserves to be removed from the center of a piece of currency: IF they were going to make a change like this, then they picked the right person. I actually wrote the US Treasury back when they were proposing such a change to suggest Tubman.
Brahs, stop complaining. 20s are for the poor middle class sheep. I milk these low lifes that raqck up credit card debt and pull 20s out of the ATM to use in casinos.
For users of rewards credit cards we'll never see this. I also stick to the franklins for when needing to use cash. Makes a 'statement'
I suggest you do the same, brah.
So now when I go to a booked restaurant and want to be seated I'm gonna have to ask if there's room for my party and 2 Ms. Tubman's. Sounds weird. Probably won't work anymore.

Found it:
I am not convinced that we need to change the $10 bill.
However, IF we change it, let's put someone on it that purposefully made a meaningful difference. For example, although Rosa Parks and Helen Keller are amazing women, I would argue that both of their stories depend more on circumstance than personal choice.
By contrast, Harriet Tubman chose to make 19 trips from the Deep South to Canada as part of the Underground Railroad, freeing over 300 slaves in the process. As an escaped slave herself, she consciously risked her life, limb, and freedom every step that she took along the way. She is a symbol of resistance to oppression and purposefully fighting for positive, meaningful change.
Im with the other poster, why can't there be more than one picture for a bill? Will the White House be replaced on the back of the $20?
