Am buying some new shorts. Some of the more expensive ones claim to have a "gusseted crotch"? Not even sure I know what that is, but do I need me crotch to be gusseted?

"A gusset is a diamond shaped piece of denim sewn into the crotch area of most of our All American brand of jeans. The gusset eliminates 4 seams coming together in one spot creating freedom of movement and a more comfortable wearing experience."

Thank you, friend! Now I understand what a gusset is. I certainly want one in my jeans, as denim is very thick. But the fabric of shorts is very thin and soft. So when it comes to running shorts, is the gusset just a gimmick? Or highly desirable? Would prefer an answer from upper level hobby joggers like me.
If you haven't need it up until now, you probably don't need it. It just creates more dove and flexibility for your junk. Most running shorts have a fair amount of room and very stretchy liners to accommodate. Why pay a premium?
Just make sure it does not say "grommeted crotch"
