Actually, the first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC.
They were discontinued in 393 AD, then resumed in 1896.
This year is the 2791st anniversary. (there was no year 0)
I would have won all of the women's events.
Most people on here arent running 17.6 in the 110 hurdles
It's the 120th anniversary of the MODERN olympic games. You know, with stadiums, meters, athletic standards, clothes.
PEDs by running naked, if you haven't tried...
Probably none if I had the same training as those guys.
But currently 400/800/1500 would be in the bag.
Also, interesting to see the 'romanticism' and history of the mile didn't seem to affect the first Olympics at all! They ran the 1500m and the marathon was 40km!
If I could have equaled my PR in each event:
100: Gold
400: Gold
800: Bronze
1500: Gold
110 H: Gold
Marathon: Gold (assuming it was 40k; otherwise Silver)
HJ: Gold
PV: Bronze
LJ: Gold
TJ: Silver
SP: Gold
DT: Gold
Check out Robert Garrett
Gold in Shotput and Discus. Silver in high jump and long jump
What a stud
none, because my uterus would've fallen out.

Edwin Flack-
Gold in 800/1500 double gold
Bronze in tennis doubles
Quarterfinals in tennis singles
Led most of the marathon, which would have been scheduled right in the middle of the tennis matches

You're forgetting quagmires, no pacing to bell, chewed up track, headwind, running on fumes, low class meet, short track, long track, not fully rested, rounds, low class timing, virtually solo, ad nauseum ...
None of you woulda medaled.
Right now I couldn't have placed in any of them. A couple years ago I could have won the marathon (at 40k).
The marathon was started at the 40k stone mark (40k from Athens). Same mark was used for cyclists. So mark to stadium was perhaps 40.5k
Btw the shortest road from Marathon to Athens was 34k. Kind of undermines the Phiedippies bs.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
