Seems the main difference is in the sole, Anything major?? I have the ones before them and really like the way the soles feel. Just the right amount of cushioning. I hope these are the same.

The 3's fit much more like a track spike vs the 2's as more of a classic 5/10k road shoe. Upper is drastically different in the 3's, and feels much more responsive. Both are great shoes, and related as cousins only. Hope that helps.
So it sounds like the lt3 puts you on your toes more?
Maybe a bit? It's just more aggressive. Think of it that way.
Could I run a marathon in the LT3?

Like a track spike? Uhh... not so much. They feel very similar to the LT2s. That's all you need to know.

I would go with the streak. Maybe you are extremely light and have a super efficient stride. That would be the only way to justify the lt3 for a marathon. I don't even use the LT for a half marathon and I have run 65.

Thanks. I am extremely light (110 lbs) but I don't know if it's worth it. I'll try out the Streak.
The foam is MUCH softer after you get past the ball of the foot. Like a sponge. The forefoot is rounded and makes a clacking sound on the road. Foam there is harder. My feet and knees both hurt the day after running 5 miles mostly on trails. I've run in LT series for years with no similar problems.

I suppose we'll just agree to disagree here. nothing wrong with that at all. in my opinion, lt2 fit compared to 3 fit are similar in name only. upper is drastically different, form fitting, and molds to your feet after about the 3rd track session- ie like a track spike. sole/midsole is not even in the same ballpark in similarity.
any idea if rotating between the lt2 and lt3 would be a good idea in terms of injury prevention since they seem to work the forefoot area a bit differently or does it not make a difference?
Someone can compare LT3 with Hitogamis and Type A 6?
I ordered LT3 last week thinking that LT3 are quite more agressive than Types or Hitogamis, isn't it??

Yes more aggressive. The LT3 is a much "faster" shoe to me than either of those.
Is anyone training in the LT3? Been training 100% in the LT series for years but it sounds like that might be a problem now.
Would either be a good shoe for crappy dirt tracks for my son who's running the 800 in middle school? Spikes seem like a poor fit for these tracks.

Depends on how packed the dirt is. If it's looser then go for the LT2 because they have little rubber nubs on the bottom, like a small waffle patters. If the dirt is compact then go for the LT3, they're apparently "faster and more aggressive" as stated by previous posters, and if he's running the 800 that's what would work the best.
I love my streak lt 3's but they're definatly more agressive than the lt 2's. I love agressive shoes but I use them mainly for workout and road 5k-10ks. I really wouldnt use this flat for marathons.
I have both. LT3s are sweet. but I've only used them for track workouts so far. they a "quicker" than the LT2s. the trade off is Id never run a 10K road race in them but I would in the LT2s
Much more track spike like but very nice
btw I wear Adidas Takumi sen 3 for any race longer than 5k (even marathon) but the LT3s are better 5k down

-^^^This. The majority of the Nike pros here in Flagstaff do their track workouts in the LT3's.
