I am not sure if anyone has posted this information here but Kamworor says that he will do a 5,000m/10,000m double because he 'I feel I am strong enough to do that'.
I agree.
It's about time.

....according to him, 'I feel strong enough to do that'.
Is Kasarani at altitude?
I guess no Kenyan trials at Prefontaine this year.
Then Paul Tanui should double and beat him twice.
Good. He can lose to Mo in both races.
Bad Wigins wrote:Then Paul Tanui should double and beat him twice.
that a joke ???
it's a pity they haven't pre-selected him for 10k so he woud only need to run 5k
mo gets pre-selected for both
i did some estimates for Kamwo's current track shape based on 51 / 52 speed & 26'10 / 26'20 endurance :
52 / 26'20 ->
1'48.9
3'32.3
4'48.0
7'22.6 !
12'39.9 !
52 / 26'10 ->
1'48.7
3'31'7
4'47.0
7'20.7 !!
12'36.0 !!
51 / 26'20 ->
1'47.3
3'30.1 !!
4'45.5
7'19.8 !!
12'37.2 !!
51 / 26'10 ->
1'47.1
3'29.5 !!
4'44.5
7'17.9 !!!
12'33.3 !
3 out of 4 of those estimates give him 5k wr ability right now off 1/2M training
if he did switch to 5k/10k training with more speedwork/less endurance, i woud actually expect him to give a solid fright to
12'30 !!!
Paul Tanui ran a sub 13, one of the only ones last year, and outkicked Gebrhiwet. Only Kejelcha was faster. If he hadn't raced too much, he'd have had gold in Beijing not bronze.
tanui woudn't even be let in the locker-room to get to Kamwo's jockstrap in order to contemplate interminably whether he coud even lift it let alone carry it
we are talking of a guy who right now coud make mince-meat of 12'40
Kamwo has 26:10/26:20 kind of 10K endurance/speed? Proof?
i've done some rough estimates for what effort he put in after the fall to catch-up
( i'll post here as it is a speed indicator )
the paper says he ran 1st mile in 4'15 & we know leaders went thru in 4'30
that means 15s faster ran to catch up, meaning fall + shock+ injury + weaving thru the hobbyjoggers + etc, cost him this much
further, letsrun says he was at back of lead pack by 80s !!!
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2016/03/legend-making-geoffrey-kamworor-dethrones-mo-farah-despite-falling-getting-trampled-world-half-marathon-championships/so that means he made up the above 15s by 80s of the race !!!
for the lead pack, 80s at 4'30 pace is
( 80 / 4'30 ) * 1609.344 =
477m
he ran this distance 15s faster than 80s = 65s
-> 477m run in 65s !!!
-> 7.34m/s !!!
that is 400 pace of
54.5 !!!
& he kept going for another 77m at same pace !!!
& virtually whole race still to run !!!
to put in a long kick at the start worthy of winning 10k or even 5k gold & still have nearly 12.9 miles to run & crush a top field is beyond shocking !!!

I bet I can answer this from Ventolin's point of view. His HM in the wind is worth x not in the wind. Then minus x for it being a road race and then minus y for him falling over, and voila, he has 26:10 speed.
That means he has 12:33 ability for the 5km, which means that when he does better training he will break 12:30.
Ventolin logic.
(P.S. He will call everyone who doesn't agree with the above an idiot/imbecile/cretin)
karnothemag wrote:Kamwo has 26:10/26:20 kind of 10K endurance/speed? Proof?
i'll post topic asking canova
Nobody cares, man.
Nobody cares.
i've got an estimate for his "even-pace" time
he lost 15s at start making basic time 58'55
flattening out 65s for 477m with remaining 20,620m run in 57'50 gives an even-out time of
~ 58'46
not accounting for incredible lactate build up already by 477m which didn't get chance to dissipate as the pack kept hammering for 1st mile/5k
that incredible lactate build-up already woud never have gone away for remainder of race after 477m
all run in worst conditions by far i have ever seen for a major road race
I'm sorry. It's hard to take runners' performances too seriously when they are never truly drug tested outside of competitions. We should never lose sight of the fact that drug testing of the Kenyans is a joke. This does not mean that GK is dirty, or that most Kenyans are, or that drug testing always works. But since it does capture some within its net, it does establish a minimum standard on the basis of which we can say someone is clean and that that person's performances are to be praised.

Someone has no clue about the sport because they are skeptical someone is saying a guy with a PR of 26:52 is in shape to break the WR in the 10000m by 7 seconds?
OK
Vent! I can't believe that you didn't factor in the wind/rain yet! Please tell us how many minutes he would've shattered the world record by!!

Yeah man I mean I take drugs all the time and they just make me sick and therefore all the best runners must be on something real good!!!! or else they don't take drugs at all but no, that couldn't be it, they must be on something!!!
