I'm not making this up:
This Marathon winner is literally to weak to break the tape.
I don't think this guy has ever set foot inside of a gym.

Yeah, but he won....

You could always get to the tape ahead of him and show him how it's done.
The human is an odd species indeed
You really don't know the difference in "to" and "too"? You did it twice.
LRC troll to dumb to spell the word.
Why was the "tape" actually a substantial banner? It almost pulled that woman off her feet and still didn't break. They obviously made it out of the wrong material.
I hope race directors that note of how dangerous this type of advertising can be.
Can you imagine the fallout if he broke a hip in that fall?
I'm old. I remember when we used thin red wool thread to mark the line as an aid to the judges. You ran the risk of pulling it too tight causing it to break before the athlete breasted the tape.

I like this better. RDs often use the wrong material these days. Anyone remember the same thing happened to Mo is Lisbon? It should be paper or yarn so it breaks. Banner material will just hurt people.
The marathoner would have probably broken the tape had the male tape holder actually held onto the tape instead of letting it go before the marathoner crossed the line.
That guy had ONE job...

No, it looks like it's not breakable and he was supposed to let it go
I know you folks are going to call me out as being shallow again. But hear me out.
The fact he he fall because he wasn't strong enough is pretty embarrassing for runners. I mean you guys are ridiculed often enough for not being big enough. And while I don't think that everyone should look like a bodybuilder, it wouldn't hurt for you guys to hit the gym every now and then.
We like men to be a little more muscular. It still helps if you're a good runner but if you only weigh 120 lbs then I can't take you seriously.

What marathon did he win?

You're right, it was not a "Full Marathon". Anyway, the term "Marathon" has become quite commonly used these days for any kind of distances greater than 5k. 10k Marathon, 13.1 Marathon etc..
Running borrowed these terms from the Triathlon community, where you have a 70.3 Ironman, 140.6 Ironman etc. Both are Ironman events though...

Does anyone seriously refer to a 5k or 10k marathon? Surely this is a Letsrun urban legend?
Triathlon is different, btw, becaus ironman is a trademarked name rather than a race distance.

At least the triathlete does some upper body exercise, so he would not fall down like a little girl.
Pathetic.

Yeah, and he would have IM tattooed on his calf.

This is a troll thread for the most part, but anyone who watches the video should realize that it would have been impossible to break the tape.
The guy holding the tape on the right let it go, so it was basically a free-floating banner that was probably 1.5 feet wide. I don't think anyone on the planet could just run into a free-floating banner of that size and somehow break it.
