So I studied history at Yale because I thought it would be just awesome to be that guy at bars who could tell you everything about the agrarian precapitalist societies of the southern colonies and crap like that. Well, it turns out the major was not all that interesting--just a lot of mundanity and useless factoids that no one at the bar appreciated. Now I work on the trading desk at a Manhattan bank--my dad's friend's a big shot there and got me the job--and it has nothing to do with my major. Can't complain about the pay which is 6 figures, but can someone make me feel better about the 4 years I spent in New Haven studying freaking history?
