Do you have the 1984 issues of track and field news?
I used to have them but they got tossed in a move.
If you do, could you check and post the last two lap times for Mamade and Lopes in their 27:13 and 27:17 world record 10k?
Thanks much.

West Chester Univ has them in the bottom floor of their library. However, I graduated 5 years ago and live in VA. If any WCU students could help out that would be great...

"Mamede cruised the final two laps in close to 2:00 and clocked a quick 57.5 for the last circuit."
Thank you very much!
I'm close to positive that Mamede ran the last 1600 in 4:08.
Amazingly this race and a photo was in the sports page of my small town newspaper that weekend.
If I ever saw a world class 10k photo in any American paper today I would likely shit a brick.
Instead you're always gonna see a picture or more of people like fat Rodger Clemens to go along with his $18mil salary announcement. What a sad day and age!
There were many other races where Mamede finished very quickly but not this one.
I think Lopes also had a good lead (if memory serves), and Mamede didn't catch him until somewhere around a lap to go.
