I'll start
meniscus tear
ankle sprain
achilles tendonitis
soleus strain
ankle sprain/talus fracture
morons neuroma/stress fracture
hamstring strain
quadriceps strain
I hope that's it. Four years. I started late in life.

43 years
Shin splints the first week (1972)
Pretty much every strain and sprain.
Plantar fasciitis
sciatica
runner's knee
haglund's/achilles bursitis
No stress fractures (that I know of)
serious bruise/deflection of ribs
Interestingly I have been equally serious about rock climbing for 37 years and have never had an injury that interrupted my training, while I have had to retire from hard training for years, even decades at a time.
41 years
Calcaneal-navicular coalition
Cuboid syndrome
Ankle sprains
Dislocated ankle
Double fracture of the talus
Fracture in the 5th ray
Both wrists broken while running
Medial tibial platform syndrome
Severe back spasms
S.I joint locked
Hole in the right quad
Sprain both knees
Achilles tendinitis
Von Haglunds
I.T Band
Condromalacia in both Knees
Hamstring strains
Plantar fascia strains
Pain in the metatarsal heads
Shin splints
9 years
Runner's knee X 4
Patellofemoral pain
ITBS
Hamstring strain
Achilles tendonitis
Anterior tibial tendonitis
Chronic piriformis syndrome for 5 years
Possible meniscus tear, but pt never gave an official diagnosis.
Minor haglunds deformity problem, but change of shoe resolved it.
Compared to other people who posted I feel very lucky.
18 years
Patellar tendinitis
Fat pad under kneecap (cortisone was awful)
5th metatarsal fracture (awful)
Calf strain (dozens)
Abductor strain (once)
Groin strain (once, terrible)
it band pain in knee (once, easily resolved by foam roller)
Achilles tendinitis (right now, absolute bitch)
Sprained ankles (4 or 5)
MTSS
Femoral stress fracture
Holy Jesus it sounds like all you people should be dead by now.
12 years
Patellofemoral pain syndrome
I should addendum that last week I ran 45 miles pain-free, after struggling with various strains over the winter, probably due to a latent infection from the flu. Every step is a gift at my age.

Okay, age 68 been running with a few breaks here & there since 1965/66.
Chondromalasia patellar (runners knee) was an issue on and off until I began daily commute cycling. 1975 - 77
ITB injury after a stormy Seaside Ore. marathon finish, 1979
Patella plica had arthroscope surgery, seemed to take a long time recovering from that. Prior to proper diagnosis and scope surgery Patella plica was a problem during my last marathon, Boston, 1982.
1988 major injury and was a problem for next few years, yanked upper hamstring right in the insertion area, buttock. Never regained former fitness, added two, three min. To 10 km time. Probably age was taking its toll here.
Series of pulled calf muscles, something like three or four times a year. Decided to swear off racing as was also being bugged by a piriformis problem,,left hip. It was right h- string I had previously injured.go figure there.
Presently have osteoarthritis in both knees but still maintaining some running daily.
Kept in reasonable shape nonetheless.
Yes, every step is a gift.
45+ and have been running for 3 years...
fractured tibia
groin strains, both sides
inflamed cuboid, both feet
strained abdominal
high hamstring tendonitis
sciatica
The medical establishment would be bankrupt without us.
ITBS
PF
Achilles tendonitis
Hamstring pull/strain
9yrs of running
Addendum #2: The last time I saw a doc for a running problem was 1986. They were always heading toward the scalpel. I have never been cut into, and have worked through all the problems with massage, shoe-shuffling and PT on my own, usually without pills or ice. As a result I have enjoyed a successful masters career with many years of injury-free running, competitive "retirements" notwithstanding. At 59 I am in 5:30/19:00-ish shape without serious race-oriented training.
Can you just list them all and I will see if there are any I haven't had?
Haven't seen Baker's cyst listed yet.
Separated a shoulder on a trail run fall
15 years running...
- Tibial Stress Fracture
- Tibial Stress Reactions
- Metatarsal Stress Fractures X3
- Heel Spur
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Chondromalacia
- Sprained Ankle
I haven't as many different injuries as some, but the stress fracture/reaction cycle lasted about 8 years.
I've also tripped and fell many, many times. Lots of scrapes and bruises, but also a bone bruise on my toe that took me out for a week (hurt so bad, thought it was broken). And the worst was when I fell head-first onto a contractor's stake.
Hmmm...where to start?
40 years running and started as a sprinter.
6 grade III left hammy strains
3 grade III right hammy strains
Patellar tendinitis-both knees
Left ruptured achilles tendon
Right fibular avulsion
Partially torn right ACL
Right lateral collateral ligament tear
Right upper hammy tendinitis
Left posterior tibial tendinitis
Several calf strains
Several groin strains
Several quad strains
Left sports hernia
Distal semitendinosus tendinitis-both legs
Achilles tendinitis-both legs
IT band syndrome-both knees
Plantar faciatis
4 broken ribs
Fractured scapula
Collapsed lung-yes, running related
Still running. What do I win?
13 years.
It band, shin splints, knee issue. Sort of, at the same time and separately, for around 1 year. 2005-2006
Weird knee issue, 2011-2012. Involving leg extension and risk of upper leg muscles breaking over the knee hinge at the end of extension (strike, connect with ground, lever, then push back).
A continued thing into the future every now and then.
Heel issue, currently.
That's what I can remember off the top of my head. I try to keep records of this stuff, but I keep records of other goings on in my life and have lost my logs, journals, etc from years past.
After the first time, and how much that devastated my happiness, ego , psyche and life, I got into biomechanics and seeking expertise from experts. I never intentionally go too hard knowing a clear imbalance and injury to be, could turn serious and traumatic.
Ever have sore calves after a hard effort, on the verge of involuntarily spasm ing and pulling themselves? That's a good time to call a break in play, so to speak.
Same if you have a foot issue, or other issues. You have to be able to at least walk home! So to speak.
Probably come close to damaging my hamstrings too.
In times past I sometimes woke up in middle of night with muscle spasms. Can't remember, I think I theorized it was an electrolyte issue (not a training one) and solved it.
This thread is making me remember parts of my life and catastrophes I try to avoid getting into. I've always been sensitive about my knees since grade school sports and minor painful knee injuries in football and basketball. Same thing, growing up, knowing the possibility of this and that, ligament tears from tackles, collision, etc. I once almost "died " (as I termed it at the time, although there would be many more NDE years to come, I respect all suffering ) in the national Capitol as a kid as I almost fell down some of the not long marble stairs but caught myself. So I've always been careful about natural and trail running, not wanting to go flying and f myself up, or break my ankle on crappy grounding/ gopher hole.
When my sesamoid, tarsals, ankles are feeling screwed up, I don't push through it ( training). And if it's a race, especially a distance road race, well, you can get yourself killed, if you injure and exhaust yourself in the elements without outside saving assistance. I admire peoples love for running and tolerance of pain, and of course a list doesn't give the context, but people should learn to avoid or try to avoid injury at some point in their development. If you're in danger of frostbite or freezing, don't be reckless! If the mosquitoes or horse flies or bees are attacking, get out of there!

Hip flexor strain+pull+tendonopathy (or whatever they're calling it now)
2x tibial stress fracture (R+L)
2x tibial stress fracture (R+L)
Femoral stress fracture (R)
Annnd nothing for the past three years. Keep the fingers crossed!
13 years
Sprained ankle
2 different bouts of pretty fierce plantar fasciitis
I've been pretty lucky thus far as these are the only 2 things that have caused me to miss any significant time.
This is a painful thread to follow. In the ~5 years I've cared about running:
Capsulitus (5 months)
4th metatarsal stress reaction (4-6 weeks)
Hamstring strain (3 weeks)
Runner's knee (mild) (3 weeks)
Some sort of hip/groin joint issue (2-3 months)
Plus a handful or two of other random issues that have taken me out for from a few days to a couple weeks.
