There's some doubt in your mind that Hermens is dirty? The sport either does have a huge problem or doesn't have a problem at all depending on your perspective. A small minority of medalists are clean so the playing field is pretty level for them. No real problem. If people want to go digging for skeletons, they are going to find them and just like BALCO when one goes he just might turn someone else in and it will be a house of cards, big problem.

That was 1998 and almost 16 years later the same doctor still working for the top agent Jos Hermans. Since he gets paid from the proceeds from races and the more the winners in the staple the more money for him and his employer, I guarantee this guy dopes athletes with or without their permission. He is just like Alberto SAlazar but worse than Alberto because he is a medical doctor. And guess who his clients include? Kenenisa Bekele, Haile GebrSilassie among other top stars.

Just because one wants to legalize EPO doesn't mean one uses EPO.

I bet a lot of guys here wanted to loose their virginity long before they actually did - and some probably haven't yet!

A few minor corrections.

Hermens is a manager and agent. Does anyone know how close he is to the coaching of the athletes he represents? I assume Hermans would look after the commercial aspects but if an athlete signs with him, for instance, would he dictate who is coaching and looking after the medical needs of that athlete?

It depends on the situation and the individual

If you watched Bekele's marathon debut in Paris, Hermens sure seemed to be pretty involved.

You are completely wrong. Are you insinuating that if someone gives me a drink just before a marathon race and tells me it is EPO, that I can then be able to run 2:03 or 2:02? That may fall on the superstitious side but still it won't happen I promise you. Go and try it.

On the other hand if an athlete is sabotaged and unknowingly takes EPO or any other performance enhancement drug, he or she will perform well beyond where he would have drugs without the drugs. Many third world athletes do not know everything out there and an agent might just give them some tablet for headache or a cough.

During Bekele's 12:37, Hermens was on the side of the track yelling splits at him and coaching him. That Hermens is involved in doping his athletes would not surprise me at all. His athletes perform beyond what were the limits of very hard training athletes for decades of the modern sport.

This reads like a non story backed up by other non stories.
