In the latest issue of Canadian Running magazine, David Scott-Thomas is asked 10 quick questions in an interview (probably an email interview), and goes off kind of randomly on doping and...Letsrun?
6. What is your greatest running-related regret?
"Drug cheats who have limited the dreams of people I directly coach. Wins and losses happen in sport of course, but to work with someone for years and see them lose out to someone who's cutting corners (worse yet, in systematic cases) is incredibly frustrating."
7. What is your greatest fear?
"Having my sense of self-perceived identity subverted by a subset of a subculture saturated with anonymous trainspotting vitriolic blabbermouths...and death."
Let's look at this. Scott-Thomas is stating quite directly that he knows athletes ahead of his are systematically doping. So who?? Not many of his guys have gone to the global finals level where he so he can't exactly say Rashid Ramzi limited their dreams. Is he talking about elite Canadians and Americans? Is he reporting these systematic dopers? Crazy to just see that throw that thrown out there in a magazine mostly for recreational runners, and comes across as somewhat vague and bitter.
Also, it sounds like the "message board rats" are already in his head...
