You believe Barnicle when he says he wasn't high during the Olympic Trials?

Some dude yelling “HEY, REMEMBER, THIS IS THE OLYMPIC TRIALS!†at him is hilarious to me. I'm a Barnicle supporter too and have no issues at all with what he did.
He was lit fam lmao
hahaha funniest answer. love this dude!
This dude is a nutcase and it's awesome.
I feel sorry for pot addicts. That drug becomes their religion and totally dominates their life. You can't talk to them, they are worse than an Amway salesman. Everything in their life is about pot. One day its just fun, eventually they are telling you how it cures cancer, and an endless litany of other diseases. They like to spread the mind numbing stupidity, caused by marijuana, to anyone who will listen. At least with alcoholics you don't have to listen to them tell you endlessly how good alcohol is for you.

You are right, you just watch them slowly destroy their lives and the lives of their closest family members. So much better.

Didn't sound like he was defending alcoholism, rather the opposite. However, I know pot addicts and they have definitely destroyed their potential and their lives. If you wanted to pic which poison is worse, I'd say alcohol for sure. But just because alcohol is worse, does not make marijuana good.
Not that I'm against marijuana, I see it a total financial benefit - it's a brave new world, feed that soma to the mindless masses. Keeping people stupid never harms the wealthy. Even better, get the stupid to argue for their right to be stupid. Legalize it, tax it, let the rich get richer. Great stuff.
Another person who has no right to complain when running gets zero respect as a sport. If runners don't take it seriously, no one else should be expected to. Like Montano in 2013, this is just embarrassing and I'd be in favor of suspension/fines for this amount of disrespect.

God forbid running goes the way of those two sports! Straight to the underground!
if it's true then it is a disgrace. Don't expect or ask the public to contribute financially to athletes like this.
You guys just need to get out of mom's basement and run sub-1:05. It's not that hard. It's not like you have to have Greathouse-level talent.

Is every marijuana user an "addict"? Just curious where you put that line. You'd probably be surprised at the people you know who use marijuana, to varying degrees.

Track & Field 'media' is partially to blame for our sport's plight. When someone who performs as Barnicle did-high, dehydrated or whatever-and garners attention it detracts from any number of valid and compelling storylines.
FloTrack is a complete cluster. Can you imagine the equivalent to Barnicle from any other sport earning an extensive interview on the heels of a national championship event?
Athletes, media and our NGB combine to keep our sport in a forever marginalized position. It's sad to behold.

Shut up.

As slow as he is now, the odds are probably against having to do in competition testing.
Although pot is probably a performance degrading drug rather than enhancing, although some ultra guys apparently disagree.
For the stone-throwers who talk about pot addiction, consider your own glass house of running addiction, which is cannabinoid-based.

You're helping to make his point. If Barnicle had run 2:10 and won, his state of being would have been interesting. Show me a glorified baseball story of a drunk idiot who got struck out every at bat. You won't find one. They don't glorify people deliberately doing poorly in other sports. Just running.
Again, can you find me the spot in the atrticle where people are treating those players like heroes when they perform at a level (while drunk and or stoned) far below the average pick up player at any playground? And it's not about the drugs, per se, it's about anyone who lines up knowing they are far below the standards that got them there, and worse, people celebrating the fact. YOU WILL NOT FIND THIS IN THE MAJOR SPORTS.
