I always root for Desi and Ritz. Desi, because she is always in the hunt but more likely to be a heartbreaking No. 2 or No. 4, is a classic underdog. But she always seemed to win at life, with kind of a hottie husband and great side hobbies like traveling and whiskey collecting. I like Molly Huddle, too, but she said she never left the Olympic village in Rio. Desi had snapshots everywhere in Rio after her race and then I think she showed up in India. Her Brooks youtube videos of training in Kenya show her to be a gracious guest, kind, with a good sense of humor. I love that she pulled this one out, her beloved Boston in such tremendous circumstances.
What Desi said about Ritz did not bother me at all. He himself has said there were grey areas he felt uncomfortable with. I always root for Ritz because of his teenage self as described in the Amby Burfoot story about the Footlocker XX race the year he, Webb and Ryan Hall all ran. He is one intense person, now in a Faberge exoskeleton. I think he needs to bulk up and work on bone density. But I will always support him and Des.
