Wow.. I shouldn't be surprised with some of the comments...It Is Too Hot For A Good Race...Period! The runners should be first on the list.
I dont have a TV and NBC sports Live App is not compatible with my samsung S4 phone how do i watch the race??????
Well titled! Lol! Posted about this yesterday! Should of started at 7:00 they would be done by now! Makes no sense!
Some other people have already said this so I'll just echo it. If they can't compete well today in LA then they won't compete well in Rio later this year. Conditions will be similar.
Not Hot during Rio Winter wrote:

July is dead of winter in Rio--southern hemisphere seasons are opposite of northern hemisphere. Avg lows are mid 60s. Avg highs are mid 70s.
Rio winters are like Florida winters -- in other words, not winter. The race is probably going to be held in the late morning or afternoon, at which point the temps will probably be in the mid 70s with much higher humidity than anything the elites are used to. There's probably a 90% chance that the weather in Rio is as bad or worse than what they see in LA today.
As a point of comparison, It's the middle of winter here in Tampa right now, and this is one of our colder days -- but it's already low 70s with "feels like" temps in the low 80s. You wouldn't want to run a marathon in this.
I think today we will identify our six best hopes in Rio, plus a bunch more people will watch it.
Well the race was scheduled to start 10 mins ago. I'm tuned in to watch and the guide says "US marathon Olympic Trials." But there is a kids puppet show on. Space puppets. And on the guide they have some old Sochi winter Olympic icon. Look, Galen Rupp is on the half pipe! I swear I cant take American running coverage anymore. They always cut away from a 5k to show someone high jumping or a commercial. Then they return, 3/4 of the field is dropped and someone is 10 meters ahead. What happened? WHO KNOWS, WHO CARES?? Watch 13 straight minutes of running - crazy! They will tell you the winner when it is over and why do you care about anything else? Maybe the can cut away from space puppets with 100 M to go and I'll see who wins the marathon.
watching Meb in a commercial at leat
I would agree it is would be good to run in heat to get the best for Rio except the fact Rio is in six months. Who has ever run two great marathons in the heat in six months time? If that was the thinking for choosing LA they should have had it months ago.
What will the weather be like in the Olympics

Race start at 66 degrees, supposed to 80 at finish. If they had begun one hour earlier they would be near halfway at 66 degrees. Could have tape delayed for tv.

I'm here now - awesome race. It's hot. Estrada taking it in front, honest pace. The last 5k will be spectacular! Go US!!!

fantastic race! Rupp shows quality = class. Fired up! Slow times, I am sunburned.
Meb and Ward quality Warriors. Sexy times = not so much.
Desi battling to 2nd Big Time. Love her style and grit. Seeing them train for Rio as a Trio groovy.
Happy for Cragg to be on top.
Shame to see Shalane in a wheelchair - hard day to be leaving your guts out there.
GO USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so for all the worry about hot temps, the classes of the field won anyway. ward is the only semisurprise.
Dathan flaming out? Shalane needing medical attention? 10 degrees less makes no difference? I like tin foil hats too
LOVE the team!! Go USA!
