We all know Galen was a high school soccer star before switching to track. But what if he never did switch?...
Rupp has good endurance and a good kick. Seems like that combo would allow him to excel on the pitch.

the goofy looking mini-brained clown kollege dropout with less than zero social skills would be lucky to have a job cleaning toilets at Burger King

Right, but what if he pursued soccer?
If Rupp is all the things you claim, then it hasn't hurt his running career. Why would it hinder him on the pitch?
No reason to think Rupp wouldn't be on the USMNT right now if not for AlSal.
No, you simply do NOT understand futbol. What position could Rupp possibly play on the USMNT? Maybe water boy. LOL!
It is way way easier and more common to be a fit soccer player than a skilled one. There has never been any indication Rupp was good enough even to play D1 college soccer, never mind make the USMNT.
You can't run faster than the ball.
I know as much about pro soccer as I do about darts. You may as well ask if John Kruk can eat 20 pounds of tofu.

No one asked you.

Was he really a STAR soccer player, or was he merely on the soccer team?
Rupp, by the way, didn't always have a kick. Up to 2008 he was always getting dropped in races.
Premise is wrong, he was always destined for running. His Mom was an Oregon state XC champ. He had a great coach in HS and would have gone to UO anyway. There really was no other path for him.
Any Olympic level distance runner could probably make the USMNT if they really wanted to. They are in way better shape then the average soccer player. How hard is it to kick a ball, or just let it hit you in the head? Not like there is any technical skills because you can't even use your hands.
