The stink starts at the top. Take out the trash in the executive suite first. Until that happens, nobody wants to wear a Lakers sweatshirt outside the house. The ideal situation would be Jerry West and the Zen Master, but why would they want to work for a gang of spoiled children?

hey blame david stern. he killed the future of the franchise when he vetoed the chris paul trade. he imposed his own agenda on the league to the detriment of the lakers. it was a sickening abuse of power and i'm still shocked there were never any legal remedies pursued.

coach d is absolutely right. I grew up in LA and have been a solid Lakers fan all my life -- until the last several years. The franchise has become a complete disaster. It's really that simple. It's also shameful and disgraceful. This was one of the greatest organizations and brands in all of sports, decade after decade. I now pay no attention whatsoever to the team, and I'm the rule, not the exception.
While Byron Scott is most likely not part of the solution, he's also not the problem. It starts with the Buss children, and also includes Mitch Kupchak. They all need to go away. And of course none of them are anytime soon.
Kobe bears a large share of the blame as well. At least he is going away. Just not soon enough.
And their marketing problems are only going to get worse. Not only has LA become a hockey town, but it's about to again become a football town. In terms of awareness and excitement, the Rams will leave the Lakers in the dust about 30 seconds after they arrive.
