I am in the market for a treadmill. It will primarily be used for tempo/marathon pace efforts (5:30/mi-6:00/mi) once a week in the winter when the roads are covered in snow and ice and for periodic easy runs (7:30/mi). I don't want to break the bank or any high end crazy bells and whistles, but I want something reliable that will get me through some marathon training and help me run fast in the winter. I have landed on the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 as my top choice because of the combo of features (It has what I'm looking for with regards to speed capabilities, incline/decline, motor seems good, the 30% softer cushioning feature intrigues me for recovery runs and my wife is interested in that as she returns from injury, and the option of an "ifit" subscription is something that I might want to look into) and the current price is right. It also seems to get some good reviews from reliable sources....
However, I am a bit apprehensive about going forward with this purchase based on some of the costumer reviews I have come across. I have read many horror stories about Nordictrack costumer service, which I would hope I wouldn't have to deal with anytime soon after my purchase, but I wouldn't want to have a bad experience if a problem does come up. Others have complained that the product has arrived without all the parts and the motor runs too loud or it just doesn't work right. I am conflicted on what to make of this combo of good reviews from various publications and then these negative costumer reviews on amazon and other store websites.
Are the negative reviews just a handful of costumers with bad experiences and all the good experiences are just not captured in the online reviews? or is it really as bad as they say? I have come to letsrun to hear of some good or bad experience with this treadmill. I'd also be interested in opinions on other treadmills that might fit what I am looking for, such as the Sole F80 (I have heard Sole has amazing costumer service, but the Sole F80 seems like an inferior product based on the specs).
Thanks in advance!
