It wasn't a good look but that's the attitude I want from my players. I'm a Steelers fan and it infuriates me to see players laughing and smiling after a big loss.

I thought Russel Wilson was a pretty good loser and he has a Super Bowl ring and is a better player than Cam Newton.
Being a good loser doesn't mean you want to lose. Focus should be on winning but losing is part of the game. Everyone in football loses. Take it like a man. I am also a Steelers' fan and would be embarrassed if our star QB acted like he did after losing a big game.
good losing is called being a good person

Whaaaa....???? Roethlisberger would never have acted like that narcissistic Newton. And certainly wouldn't have backed away from a critical loose fumble like Camille did. The Panther QB has always been a weakling when things don't roll his way.
That Cam guy should carry a mirror around .....and grow a spine.
If Cam is such a sore loser, why didn't he do something about it during the game?
He ran 5 times in the 2nd quarter and scored 7 points. He only ran once over the entire other three quarters and average 1 pt per quarter. Why?
He averaged 8.5 runs per game during the season and most of those games he didn't need to run because they had double digit leads. Like Brady will throw 52 times when the game in on the line and CJ Anderson ran 23 times for the Broncos, Cam should have been run at least twice as often and surely he should have been run in the first quarter to remind Denver what he can do.
In the Arizona game, when they were up by at least 3 touchdowns, he made a crazy dive and ran 10 total times when they didn't really need it.
"If you think Cam Newton’s postgame presser showed immaturity, what did you think of the several hours leading up to it, in which Newton dressed up like a cyborg and threw footballs at people to make the numbers go up on a giant glowing scoreboard? His actual job is to live out an eight-year-old’s dream birthday party on television; if your search for sophisticated adult contemplation has brought you to the postgame presser of the Super Bowl, I submit that you have conducted it, well, rather like a 13-year-old might."

pretty spot-on and hilarious take in my opinion. what does everyone expect? and who cares?

Does it infuriate you when ex-Steelers are living under bridges? Selling their SB rings?

The reason I care is because the 13 year-olds (and other ages I coach too) that I coach watch things like a post game presser and see how our sports "heroes" act.
Otherwise I personally don't give a $h!t. But the poor sportsmanship is contrary to what I'm trying to teach these kids. I'm trying to teach them to want really badly to win, to work hard to get that win, and to accept that they won't win every single race/game. These are important life lessons for them to learn, not for the sports careers, but for the non-sports careers they will actually have. I've only had 2 athletes come through my high school program that I think have a potential athletic professional career. For the rest, these lessons are preparing them for the their personal and professional careers in various other industries.

Think of the children! You should also protect them from press conferences with Bill Belichick, halftime interviews with Gregg Popvich, Peyton Manning after the 2010 Super Bowl and Tom Brady after losing to the Dolphins in 2013. Also, don't let them find out about those press conference walk-outs by Mike Shanahan, Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier.

Wilson better than Newton...hope you don't have a drug test coming up, there's a reason Newton has a MVP trophy now. Take him away from Carolina and they're worse than the rest of the NFC South.
Wilson got dragged to the superbowl by his elite defense, Cam dragged the Panthers then just happened to run into one of the best defenses in league history which BTW made Tom Brady look pretty silly also.
Also you should only be embarrassed by your Steelers QB when he sexually assaults women in bar bathrooms
I'm a Colts fan, so no pro Carolina bias here and I was rooting for Broncos in the superbowl
It would be nice for our star athletes to set an example for what we want our kids to learn. However it is not their job to teach our kids. As a youth sports coach, it is your job. Please don't complain about pro athletes not doing your job. They're paid to win. If they don't win enough, they get fired.
Did we have this much outrage when Peyton didn't shake Drew Brees' hand when he lost the superbowl to the saints? They're all super super competitive people, its part of how they got here. At least Cam congratulated Peyton immediately after the game.
If we really wanna be upset about something, Talib almost ripped a guy's head off with that facemask tackle. And the penalty only cost the team a couple yards. I'd be more concerned with youth football players seeing that example.
I am definitely a Cam fan. How he acted after the game doesn't bother me. You are dealing with emotion, people handle emotions differently. You can't tell that man how to react to what probably was the biggest disappointment of his life. What totally disappointed me was him not diving for that loose ball. That mad me sick. Seemed like he was mentally defeated and he gave up. It's the fvcking Super Bowl, you gotta fight to the death.
12 teams entered the NFL playoffs. 11 of them lost their last game. Most of sports is losing. If you can't handle yourself after a loss, you probably won't make the changes necessary to win the next time.
Regardless of his claimed indifference, Cam obviously desires public approval and acclaim. If he wants that, he is going to have to be gracious on and off the field after the many losses that are sure to come.
When Cam gets a ring and a couple of trips to the Super Bowl, then you can compare him to Wilson. Other than that, NOPE.
Panthers had a soft schedule and we found out what kind of offense they were when they played a good defense.
The Steelers offense absolutely shredded the Broncos D. Put up over 300 offensive yards and scored 30 points on them. What did Panthers do?
Sorry, but Carolina was not the best offense in the NFL this year. I'm not saying it was the Steelers but definitely not Carolina.
The reason I liked Cam was because he very openly challenged the opposing team to keep him out of the end zone if they wanted to put an end to his over the top celebrations. It was good drama; what will happen if he is stopped?
Well we found out. Cam's actions after he was stopped has exposed him to be no better than a gambler who refuses to pay his debt. If you aren't going to man up/pay up after a loss you have no business playing the game - or in this case, hyping up a score.
The likely, and unfortunate, outcome from him being exposed is that we may see the same level of showboating from him next year but most of us will smile a whole lot less.

It is also stupid.

He seemed out of that game as soon as Von Miller took the ball away from him and Denver scored. He did start to show some life later in the game but would 'zone out' again after the next turn over. He really showed a lack of heart in that game and that speaks more about him than the post game interview.

I was with you until you said Wilson is a better player than Newton. I will tell you that every single NFL expert (with exception of Seattle homers) will laugh at that assertion. Newton is better than about 99% of all players that have ever played. He is 6'5" 260 lbs. and runs the 40 in 4.5
He has a rocket arm. His team won 14 games in the regular season, and is not just a good player, he is a great NFL player. Here is where he is really different; Cam Newton (and don't confuse this with liking him, I don't) Could play in the NFL, MLB, NBA. No joke.
Name someone else who could. No one since Dave Winfield has been such a great all around athlete.
(Those of you who don't know Winfield, he was offered college scholarships in all three of those sports, including track)
