Get ready, OP. It is a huge life change, but it is a good life change.
I just had my third child, and now have kids aged 9, 6 and 6-days old.
First of all, sleep is totally dependent on the kid. Our first was a great sleeper and our second was colicky and it nearly killed me. We tried everything.
Our newborn is decent, but he has his nights/days mixed up and won't seem to get on a schedule.
It is really hard for the first month or so, because the baby is just not going to react to much, but once they start to "wake up" it gets much easier.
Running-wise, you need to wait 4-6 months before you take the baby running. That is fine though, b/c your wife won't want you taking the baby running before that time anyway.
As the 1,000 threads on here will tell you, get a BOB SUV and buy the car seat adapter. You will only need the adapter for 6 months at most, but it is good for peace of mind and it is only $30 if I remember correctly.
With one kid, your running will actually increase if you can get out the door with the stroller. Your wife will be happy to let you take an hour or two every day to run. My first two LOVED running, but some friends have told me their kids did not. My second kid stopped loving it around age 4 and would do things like put his foot on the front tire to slow me down, but he was old enough to threaten at that point and it was fine...
So many good threads on here about this, definitely do a search. If you have a specific question, let me know.
If you have a little help coming right after the baby is born - mother/mother-in-law - you should be alright, but if not I would probably not plan to run much in the first month unless you can sneak it in during work.
GOOD LUCK!!!
