How often does a runner start off at a Dll college and move up to Dl ? I know right now I am running no where near the times that I should to be scouted by Dl but I have been making huge jumps and I think will be good enough to go Dll and then progress to Dl. Is this reasonable?
What is your reasoning for this? If you make a DII team (and perhaps get a scholarship) then why do you want to jump to a DI team? Other than the fact that typically DII colleges aren't as good academically as most DI schools, what is the allure of the DI college? If it's to just be on a DI team, then go to that school and try to walk on. Why do you need to go the route of DII first?
Finally, I agree with the poster who said to pick a place where you will be happy running. If you aren't good enough for DI now as the recruitment process is upon you, then it's PROBABLY not for you. DI should not be the goal for you. Go to a place you can afford that has the education you want and a team that is in line with your current abilities. Maybe you become a DIII superstar. LOTS of great coaching in DIII...they just have lesser talent to work with. Nothing magical about DI. Go DI if your ability is in line with that level...otherwise, skip it.
