Right now? I would guess Allie Ostranger, seeing as she is probably further along in her yearly progression. I would think she is targeting NCAA Nationals, while Alexa Efraimson is hoping to make the Olympic team.

4:03 is better than 15:21, and it's not like Efraimson is a 1500-and-under type athlete.
right, probably agree, but that 4:03 is Alexa's best mark after multiple races in peak shape, while Alllie's 15:21 5k is from a sample size of 1, from her first ever track 5k, in January and was indoor to boot.
So comparing Alexa's best 1500m to Allie's only 5k isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison.

While it is her first track race of the year, and I don't know if she'd ever run a track 5k prior to it, it's her best race to date. While she very well may improve over the course of this year, the same can be said for Efraimson... Efraimson's best race to date is greater than Ostrander's.

The OP asked right now. Not in June or July. And this is not a comparison of whose PR is best.
15:21 > 4:34.
That said, Efraimson is a little older and has about 2 years more experience racing in big meets against pros. So if the race were at any time this month, you might give the nod to Efraimson, but not overwhelmingly so. Maybe 3:2 odds.
Alexa hadn't raced since summer, and her 434 was poorly paced. It would be close but Alexa could hang and outkick. It would be great matchup...maybe Dempsey next week?
In a 3K, I think I give the advantage to Alexa, but it'd be close. I don't believe Alexa would even want to be on the same starting line right now with Allie for a 5K or 10K. (And Allie would have no hope against Alexa in a 1500 or 800).
They are different beasts, and both are good shots at being future Olympians!

I agree, I think their strengths lie in their respective events and would both get beaten by the other in their non-premiere events.
After Allie's 8:54 today would really like to see them on the same track for a 3k this year
Me too!!! Although it looks as though Alexa is really focusing on the 1500m/800m. Maybe outdoors at the Oregon Preview.
yeah i think 3k might be more in Allie's range than we initially thought so would be pretty close match
seems like it's always assumed Allie will be a 5k/10k specialist but since her lifetime base is relatively low still, her performance curve from 1500m-10k might not profile like a typical 5-10k specialist right now. This 3k is worth at least as much as her 5k on the iaaf tables and I think the conditions in the 5k were more suited to a fast race. I would have expected something more around 9:00 flat based on her 5k and assuming 3k was a bit out of her ideal rang, but she ran 8:54 looking like she was holding back for most of the race. Would be interesting to see her in a 1500m just see what the low end of her range is.
Really doubt the 1500 is in her competitive future, but if her performances were relatively equal from 1500-5k right now I think her future 5k potential could be even higher than we are thinking right now, once she gets more lifetime base built up.
