While running my very low back on the left side started feeling weird. kept running and it got worse, causing me to alter my stride until I got home (was in the middle of nowhere). Since then (5 days), I haven;t run. The pain is on my left side very low back/upper glute. I got a deep tissue massage that helped some but it's still there. Don't know if it's piriformis issues, SI joint, or disk slippage?? Any thoughts. Trying to save my senior track season to hopefully run in college.
is the entire planet getting piriformis issues this week?

i have no clue what could be going on, but must be common.
piriformis is more noticeable when sitting. google gluteus minimus and see if this seems like where you feel it.

You might also see if you can figure out whether you have a tight quadrates lumborum.

Probably quadratus lumborum and gluteus minimus.
Chances are its your sciatic nerve being effected by a pulled Psoas happened to me a few times the trick is to massage your glutes hamstrings and Psoas muscles and try running on a treadmill as running up down and side to side movements incorporate your lower back and glutes which will make the pain worse make sure you relax for a couple of days before running on the treadmill though
Hey man, I'm a senior as well. I had this same issue about a month ago. I tried searching everywhere for what it was and eventually found out it was piriformis syndrome. I continued running and after 2 1/2 weeks it went away. To continue running with the pain, just take quicker shorter strides. To fix the pain do glute and hip work (side leg lifts, glute bridges, side steps, etc.). I used one of those elastic physical therapy bands and they worked fine. When you get home just roll the affected area around with a tennis ball and do stretches and it should relieve some of the pain. Get well soon man!

Most likely your psoas. The QLumborem usually aches higher up your side.
Go here for a simple psoas stretch.

Thought of this too. I had one two years ago and that is exactly what mine felt like. It got progressively worse during the run to where I could barely walk on it. So I guess the question now is, when does it hurt you the most? Putting weight on it? Sitting? Bending forward? I mean sure it could be your back or piriformis, but I wouldn't wait long to get it checked out if it's still really painful. Also, sacral stress fractures are not very common, so I actually had to tell my doctor to check for that!
thanks everyone for the advice but turns out it was my left SI joint. I went to the chiro and he did some adjustments and I feel okay but not 100% better. Any advice for that? Haven't run in 6 days. Minimal exercise.

You need to give the adjustment time to settle in and for whatever is irritated to recover.
it's the beginning of February. You'll be fine in April and May.
