I've been consistently running 50+ miles a week, and just started the 12 week Advanced Marathon training program. I know I've been running my training runs too fast and have recently added more hills and speed work/strides. I should be able to handle this volume with a decent base I've built over the last 4 months.
I recently experienced a pretty severe pain, in what feels like the vein at the very bottom of shin and top of my foot. It is not discolored, but feels slightly raised/swollen compared to the right side. I took three days off and tested it out Sat with 6.5 miles with no real pain. For Sunday's long run, the pain came right back when I started to run and I had to stop after a half mile. There is little pain walking, and I can def feel it uphill or when I put pressure with my hand on the sore spot.
Paranoia is setting it. I don't think I have Compartment Syndrome or DVT. It could be Tendinitis or a bruised vein. I had a similar pain when I laced my sneakers up to tight before, but that wasn't the case this time. I know rest is what everyone will recommend, but pretty bummed out that Boston is 11 weeks away. I have a PT appt on Wed, and I've been icing and taking aspirin. Has anyone had these symptoms before?
