No way Ole Mi$$ was paying for recruits I would have never guessed lol about time an $EC team got in trouble for paying they all do it minus Vandy.

2/3 of those belong to track and field. FB will be fine

Is that why Brian had to let so many assistant coaches go during his tenure? Or was he the problem and the assistants were leaving to avoid this?

Definitely sounds like tampering from the coaches. They get an unusual amount of transfers in the program - similar to Oregon, who also has unreported tampering issues.

Maybe they transfer because they know they'll improve. Show me a Vanhoy transfer that hasn't improved?

The school is really trying to get away with this with little to no penalty. How do you determine that arriving back on campus with a signed NLI in hand isn't sufficient evidence to prove you were present for the signing? Those are supposed to be mailed.

VanHoy is an incredible coach. The violations don't have anything to do with him.

They mainly involve Erin Dawson who is not longer with the team and the former head coach Brian O'Neal who is no longer with the team.

Go to page 39 and read it for yourself.

It's alleged that Dawson a) called and recruited an athlete on another team to try to get her to transfer b)watched recruits run on their recruiting trip and c) Lied to the NCAA when confronted about this.

When I was coaching at Cornell, I remember learning that I wasn't allowed to watch recruits run at all as that was considered a try out. I was like "But they need to go for a long run and you just can't go run 10 miles without knowing where to go." So you'd have to like look away if they ran with the guys on the team. Such a weird rule. Or a recuirt would ask if he could use the track to do a workout. I'd say sure. But then I'd walk out to ger ready for pracitce and realize he wasn't done yet. So I'd have to make sure I didn't look at him.

It's alleged the O'Neal did an illegal home visit and knew of Dawson's illegal contact. It's also alleged that O'Neal let a coach go pick up an athlete at the airport.

To me, the NCAA should be ashsamed on that one. Did you know that it used to be illegal for a coaching staff to pick up a kenyan from the airport. You couldn't be involved in their transportation to your campus. So a Kenyan with no money gets$1,500 and flies over for his full ride and then has to figure out a way to get from the main airport to your campus.

For the most part, it seems a lot to do about a little. I'm all for punishing people who lie to the NCAA. And we need rules but this stuff seems very minor.

I wonder how they know all of this. Why wouln't you use a burner phone?

It said that Dawson used a phone that was not her school issued phone. I am assuming she thought they wouldn't/couldn't check that one.

She probably assumed right! Unless with a legal order, I'm sure the NCAA just got the information from the student's phone and connected it to Dawson that way!
