First, I have no problem with wood stoves in rural areas. Fine. Burn all the wood you want.
In urban areas, like PDX, there is this "cool" factor to having a wood stove. On my long run today, I was smoked out running through many neighborhoods.
Funny how cigarette smoking is banned, but wood stove pollution is far worse and permeates into neighbourhoods everywhere, lingering all the time.
They have all this radon awareness for lung cancer, but since wood is a protected industry, there is no discussion or awareness of the dangers of constant wood smoke in the PDX and Seattle areas.
Fine in the countryside, but urban areas should seriously ban wood stoves and fireplaces. Let's clean up our freaking air!
