As I've gathered many people on this board do, I typically run in the same model of shoe for many seasons, just buying the next-most-current type online for a seriously reduced price. I typically pay $65-85 for Kinvaras, shipping included.
Well, my lady is taking up yogging again after a hiatus. The last pair of running shoes she had purchased was in 2009(!), so I told her that it would be a good idea to try on several options rather than getting the same shoe. I said to budget $150, but that would be more than plenty.
She selects the Supernovas, and I know that several have been fawning over the Boost, but I thought that was absurd. I have noticed that it seems the MSRP creeps up another $5 every year, but what are we paying for?
Is there really that much new R&D that I'm not aware of? Is Boost that awesome? Should I suck it up to support my local running shop (I want to, but we are both grad students, so $140 is a major purchase). Have I lost touch?
