Taking a job with the 49ers, who are the worst owners in the NFL?
If he had any stock at all, he'd go for the Tennessee job so he could coach Mariota.

Thanks for supporting me!
Oregon should have fired Mark Helpless and given Kelly a million zillion dollars to come back
Kap is back, baby. 49ers office will get a lot more uptempo now.
I had read that Shanahan was the likely 49ers coach. Curious what changed.
The Tennessee job had been filled.
In other news, the Eagles have hired Doug Pedersen, an Andy Reid protege as their HC. The Andy Reid coaching tree has been doing well in the NFL unlike Belicheat's assistants who go on to become head coaches and then get fired.

Chip Kelly is lacking in "emotional intelligence" according to Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie. Kelly was hated in the Novacare Center and several of his players were not sad to see him leave. I wish him luck in SanFran, odds are he will clash with the GM and wear out his welcome in less than 2 yrs.
I do not see this as working out after Philly, but then he was successful before on the West Coast, so maybe that West Coast vibe will carry him. I doubt it. They had a coach in Harbaugh and couldn't handle him. Kelly isn't suited for the NFL.

The Browns owner is the worst....
Tennessee is not hiring, the owners are trustee's and plan to sell in a year or two and they didn't want to burden the New owner with a coach.
Gotta give JED some love here, he made a bold choice and Philly will be paying most of the bill.
If in 2 years it doesn't work out he can fire Chip and Baalke and start again.
If it works, Chip and the Niners are close to back. Chip made Nick Foles a pro-bowler, yeah I am sure he can do just as well with Gabbert and or Kaepernick.
50 million under the cap. I be the Niners can find a few people who want play for old Chip :)
I really wish I could fall as far as Chip Kelly. Getting a 4 year 24million dollar contract must suck.

Haha that's true. But falling is relative. The Eagles haven't had a championship for a while but they've been a stable organization that supports their coaches (perhaps to a fault). By contrast, the Niners are one of those organizations that scapegoats their coaches and runs them out prematurely. That's the worst kind of coaching gig to get.
I'm a Redskins fan so it's hard for me to believer that there are owners who are even worse than the Danster.

+1
Chip was a good coach in Philly for two of three seasons. He had a winning record over a two year period with Nick Foles/Mark Sanchez at qb. He's a bad GM and needs to do better relating to the staff/team, but the guy is still a better coach than about 20 others in the league.
It's a shame he ended up in SF instead of Tennessee though. He can probably make the offense hum by repairing Kaepernick, but he's under the people who fired the second best coach in the league.
Chicago weighing in here..
McCaskeys f@ck everything up. Haven't won since 1985 and those guys STILL get free bear around here.. Every hire was crappy after Ditka. Lovie was alright, but Cutler doomed him after we signed him. Trestmann was a disaster......why hire that guy? Fox is a good hire, since he's actually coached NFL football before, but we need some players who can play.

Andy Reid and his coaching tree have 1 Super Bowl.
Bill Belichick and his coaching tree have 4 Super Bowls and 6 National Championships.
As mentioned earlier he fell all the way into a 4 year $24 million dollar contract making him one of the top 10 paid coaches in the NFL. Anyone else think it's a little bit odd that he makes more than a lot of older, more proven coaches? That's a nice soft landing of you ask me.
Belicheat's assistants had great success in Boston, sure. Once they left the Bellicheat fold, a whole different story.
Eric Mangini 33 wins, 47 losses fired twice
Charlie Weis 41 wins, 49 losses fired twice
Josh McDaniels 11 wins, 17 losses fired
Romeo Crennel 28 wins, 55 losses fired twice
Lmfao, they all suck as head coaches and not one of them has landed a new head coaching gig after all the recent firings for next season, bahahahaha!!!!!!
49ers Season Ticket Holder Here.....
I was initially negative about the Chip Kelly signing, but now I am thinking that it could really work.
Some things have to fall in place for it to work really well. The 49ers have high standards, and Jim Harbaugh set the bar very high:
(1) Kap needs to get healthy and forget whatever crap he "learned" from Kurt Warner. Let Kap be Kap, and let him throw the ball like he has since high school. Keep in mind that this is a guy who got the 49ers to the Superbowl and the NFC Championship the following year.
(2) Bring back Anthony Davis, get rid of Pears, Devey and Marcus Martin. Go O-Line in rounds 1 and 2 of the draft, and sign a veteran Right Guard.
(3) Prepare for a no-huddle fast pace read-option offense. Make it so fast and crazy that defenses don't even know where to line up. Condition the hell out of the offense in the off-season.
(4) Our defense is young and improving, and I think that they will get better with time. Eli Harold, Arik Armstead and Jacquisi Tartt are studs who will improve in their 2nd year. Try to convince Patrick Willis to "un-retire." Just focus on offense, and reducing penalties on both sides of the ball.
GO NINERS!!!!

Reid coached under Mike Holmgren at Green Bay. Holmgren coached under Bill Walsh. Look at this:
https://41.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lu0yxhk4Jk1qglgcio1_1280.pngThat fast paced offense needs to get first downs or else you're just putting your defense back on the field with no rest.
Last year the Eagles defense was on the field for 60 minutes longer than average over the season.
So their defense played two additional games.
And it's not just time of possession, which is affected by incomplete passes.
Their defense was on the filed for more plays than any other team.
And their down as the season went along.
Chip Kelly and Jim Harbaugh have one thing in common, they are CONTROL freaks to the Nth degree. Harbaugh clashed with Trent Baalke/GM the entire time he was there and that was the main reason why he left the team. Kelly will not have final say on personnel. Baalke and Kelly will have to be able to compromise and neither have shown that trait in their NFL careers. I predict another front office war with the 49ers, this will not end well.
