What is the origin of the universe?
Don't tell me 'big bang.' There is no way that one day there was nothing, then the next instant 'poof,' we have a universe. That's the most intellectually lazy, illogical proof I've ever heard.
It's one reason that I believe in a higher power.

I've always struggled with this as well.
On a somewhat related note, my coworker (a physicist) used to be an atheist but he said he used quantum mechanics to prove to himself that a higher power must exist.

Any basic understanding of quantum mechanics would involve the Uncertainty Principle, meaning he could not by 100% certain of the existence of a higher power.

Thanks. I didn't ask him for any more details (and I'm sure I wouldn't understand them anyways), but he's at least convinced himself that there is a higher power.

-will we evolve into some sort of part man-part machine

-will humanity ever progress past wars and violence?
-have a fully automated civilization

That was seriously like the worst use of the uncertainty principle ever.
I doubt that the dude's physicist buddy would assign a probability of 100% to his proof, but that has nothing to do the with uncertainty principle.
You obviously do not understand the big bang. Why don't you study it before you knock it? That's what we call lazy.

Oh, so now we got everyone here supporting the use of quantum mechanics to prove the existence of God. I tried to give you a way out, but you wouldn't take it.
