Well, the US had two guys that could run under 3:35 then.
There about a dozen now.
Same with Americans running under 13:20 then to now.
I loved Joe Falcon.
But I am not as confident that he would make either team right now.
His PRS were 3:33 and 13:20.
No American medaled in the 1500 or 5000 in any major in the 1990s.
Steve Scott got the one 1500m medal in the 1980s.
The US has two 1500m medalist that compete now.
Rupp and Teg have done well in the 5000.
Then there's Lagat if you want to count him.
There has been very good progress for American men in the 1500 and 5000 since 1990.
And Morceli was #1 in the world in 1990.
I think he would medal today.
