Sorry in advance for being financially illiterate. I'm 25 years old and only have a debit card. I have never had a credit card, aside from one my family shares for group purchases. I have about 125k in savings and own a 600k apartment with my brother, which was purchased in cash. Given that I have never borrowed money, I don't think I've ever built credit. Is there a need for me to build credit, given my relatively high amount of assets for my age? Obviously there are benefits to owning a credit card outside of building credit, but I'm most interested in the credit issue, which may be important if I want to take out a mortgage later in life or borrow money for other reasons. I'm a bit worried about potentially forgetting to pay off the bill one month and accumulating debt, as I'm a forgetful person. I'm also genuinely interested in whether building credit is actually really important, or largely an idea pushed by credit card companies because they want people to use credit cards. Thanks for the advice.
