+1 on roasting your own. Can be done cheap with the "dog bowl method" too if you don't want an investment. You'll have some junk batches along the learning curve, but you can't beat the ability to buy a few pounds of different coffees and then roast them each 5 different ways. I can even get different roast profiles, not just end results, now that I have a few hundred batches under my belt.
I'm lucky to live within five miles of a green coffee store and also buy from online green coffee buying clubs.
