GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lauren Brasure, a University of Florida cross country and track and field student-athlete, was struck by a car and hospitalized on Wednesday (Dec. 9) night.
As of Saturday (Dec. 12) evening, Brasure was breathing on her own and responded to commands. She also awoke briefly and had a conversation before falling back asleep on her own. Brasure had successful surgery to repair a broken clavicle on Friday (Dec. 11) as well.
From the facebook group:
Sunday update: Lauren is having the drain removed from her brain. Her next steps will be passing the tests so she can have food and water on her own. Mom says she was very comical last night. She is in a haze but she is making amazing progress.
Thanks for the good news. I hope she recovers completely.
So sad to hear about this. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lauren and her family.
