While I doubt Ryan Hall will finish top 3 at the Trials, I'll never under stand the venomous dislike people have for him. There are so many truly bad people in the sport (ie Alberto Salazaar) who have caused wide spread catastrophic damage and have hurt so many people along the way.
Ryan Hall hasn't done anything nearly that egregious to other people - or the sport in general. Yes, he's different and some interpret his past behavior and statements as arrogant. But show me an elite athlete at the top of his/her sport that isn't arrogant.
He's very out-spoken about his Faith and if people have different beliefs - that is totally fine. But he gave the sport some truly breath taking moments. Watching him in the final stretch of the New York City Olympic Trials, it just gave me chills.
Unfortunately his low T count has probably ended his once incredible career. I would suspect he'll announce his retirement before the Trials. I think its unlikely he even runs.
I'm probably alone but I would love to see one last great performance. It will be a long time before we see a US-born marathoner accomplish what he accomplished.
