Farah is the only athlete in history to run sub 3:30, sub 13-minute and sub 27-minute for 1500 metres, 5000 metres and 10,000 metres respectively.

And a 59:low half and a 2:08:xx marathon. The former is world class still, the latter time is still respectable.
He has to be in the conversation based on the 1500. Twice.
Haile still has one of the fastest all time indoor 1500 at 3:31. Behind only El G. Plus his marathon PR is 4.xx minutes better than Farah's. In fact, all his PRs except the 1500 are much better, and even that is quite good globally.
Kipchoge is also more impressive.
Mo's 1500 is good on paper, but would you ever pick him to medal in it?
Also, but your logic Rupp is just a 1500 at Monaco away from being in the GOAT conversation.
Compared to Geb:
Mo beats Geb in 1500 (3 seconds)
Mo loses in 5K, 10K, semi-marathon, marathon.and cross-country
Compared to Bekele:
Mo beats Geb in 1500 (4 seconds)
Mo loses in 5K, 10K, marathon, BUPA Great North Run half-marathon, and cross-country
Did Mo ever beat Bekele head to head?
World records by Mo:
1: 2 miles indoors -- woo hoo!
World records by Geb:
27
World records by Bekele:
at least 4
5 short course and 6 long course world championship cross-country victories
I don't know -- close call.

That's not really a fair comparison. Geb ran that indoors and not in a time trial.
Farah ran his outdoors with rabbits. If given the same opportunity, Geb would have run under 3:30 outdoors at least.
Farah has never won a fast 1500.

Yes it is a fair comparison. Farah has not run to his potential at 5k or 10k either.

No it is not. This is about RANGE. The endpoints are what matters not the middle events.
Definitely Geb. I would say Farah has a slightly better 1500 (3:28 v. 3:31i), but Geb's times destroys Farah's in every other distance. It's interesting to talk about what Farah could run if he really tried, but he hasn't and that matters.
3 seconds is a lot in the 1500m. It would be the same margin as a 12:42 compared to Farah's 5000m PR or a 26:23 compared to his 10000m PR.
There is also the argument that indoor tracks can be faster than outdoors, no wind for a start. Geb only ran 3:33 outdoors.
Farah is still the only man sub 3:30, 13:00, 27:00 and 60:00 mins. His range has never been seen before. Even Geb could not run 3:28 in the same year as a 59 min half.

You're missing important facts like how Geb was never in any 1500m time trials. He never tried for his best time. His times were the result of racing not time trialing. Geb's nonrabbited time is about the same as Farah's fastest non rabbitted time.
How do you know Geb couldn't run 3:28 in the same year as a 59 min half?
Lagat could have gone sub 27 in his day and 12:40. How about a 13:09 in 2016 at age 41? I'd like to see what Mo is doing at age 41 before he is GOAT in my book.
Why is this even a thread? Mo couldn't even wash Geb's jock strap when it comes to range. Or anything else for that matter.
Aouita has to be mentioned. Wr in 1500 and 5k, 800m olympic medal, and world #1 10,000.

Aouita is drug pusher and therefore, exempt from any GOAT list.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2332439/Sports-Round-up.htmli'm so glad you wrote this so i didn't have to.the most impressive things about Mo Farah are (1) how quickly he became a world beater from being at the level of Matt Tegenkamp and (2) that he wins TONS of Olympics and World Championships golds.

Yes. In the olympics.
I forget .. what competition is it again where they hand out medals and awards and accolades for 'range'?
