HS senior girl. I've wanted to attend Princeton forever, and I find out if I get in in two weeks. My dad went there and I love the school tremendously. If I do get in, it would be really great if I could walk on to the track team. I know that I am currently not fast enough to be recruited, but I think that I could improve to hit their walk on standards. The standards are: 11:00 in the 3000m and 4:55 in the 1500m. Last year, I ran 11:24 and 5:09. I had a solid summer of training and took down my 5k PR by over a minute, qualifying for the State Meet for the first time.
What can I do to get my times down? My current team is not too serious; there are only two other distance girls on the indoor squad with me. We also have a brand new coach. She seems very good, but I haven't really been training for track yet (just finished XC season). Any information regarding training, diet, strength training, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Even if I don't get in to Princeton, it would still be awesome to have sub 11 and sub 5 PRs.
