You were awesome.
So I was out doing errands on my bike and came upon an old black guy with a baggy sweatshirt, gloves and old shorts in the road. I noticed he was moving like an experienced runner and when I passed him he sped up real quick like and matched my pace right next to me for a moment and smiled. I slowed down and asked him if he runs the marathon. He said no in very broken english and short breath. I then asked if he ran track and he said yes with more smiles. I told him I like to run and he said he was out doing ten miles. Mind you we are still biking, running together but slowly. I then asked him if he wants to go with me and I pointed ahead. He said okay and I sped up until we were doing doing about 12 mph. He eventually faded off after about 3 minutes.
I'm thankful for the common bond between runners.
