I briefly was an Excelsior after college and have much love for the club.
Great to see LV in the jersey out on the course.
jorvack, the weird thing is that from photos (i didn't go to the meet), he was just wearing an NB kit, not Excelsior branded (the yellow w/ red writing that a bunch of other people at the meet were wearing). perhaps he's sponsored by NB, as the Excelsior club is, and he got onto the club roster (despite not really being w/ them) so that he could get into this race?
not chastising that action if it is what he did, just pondering...

a 17 year old ran 33:39, not bad i would say.
An 18-year-old finished in 33:16. Also not bad and the pretty hard course was a minute long. No one broke 31.

Lukas has no affiliation with NB Excelsior, as far as I know. I took his registration form and asked him if he was representing a club; he said to but down "New Balance" (his sponsor). It must have been entered wrong into the timing system.

This kid could have been the king ches killer (and he beat him consistently in highschool), but instead he leaves xc and track, gets in a tragic accident, and people are now getting excited to see him running a 32 something xc race? Not sure I see the logic since there's ZERO chance he ever fulfills his highschool potential. I feel for the kid and wouldn't wish the injury he went through on my worst enemy, but I think it's time for the running community to move on.
Or maybe he fulfilled his potential in high school.

Slightly different perspective than the other response.
Lucky for him that as he gets older... they stay the same age.
The problem for Lukas is that his times in run-only races are notably slower than the top triathlete guys run after a swim and bike.
This is a slow course and about 10.3K for men and 6.2K for women. They made it too long.

wouldn't this be an issue with respect to scoring? especially since he placed well...
Lukas is not on the SF Execlsior club roster so they won't be able to auto-populate their scoring with him - and they would not try anything like that, they are good people. https://www.pausatf.org/data/members.php?club=113

Always a big fan of LV. He's actually one of the people that "influenced" me to try running. Anyway, I feel bad because it has to be quite a come down to be running at the level he is.
Take 4 minutes and remember..
