Did you guys read our race coverage?
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2015/11/syracuse-colorados-colorado-ncaa-cross-crown-edward-cheserek-makes-history-look-easy/Check out point #4. We point out that Cheserek's margin of victory was the fifth-largest in meet history -- and it all came in the last 2k!
Did we give Syracuse more coverage? Of course. They hadn't won since 1951 and upset the two-time defending champs in an excellent team race. Cheserek was amazing but he's been amazing for over two years now. His win was not a surprise at all.
Yes, your response says it all "point #4"!!??!! An athlete accomplishes what NO OTHER ATHLETE IN NCAA XC HISTORY has ever done and it merits the 4th point. No front page picture, no dedicated story to this unprecedented achievement.
All justified by, well he's really good and everyone just expects it (not like it really took any effort or dedication, etc...blah, blah, blah?? seems to be your rationale. really!!!???!!!!) As I stated before, sad day for XC when such an accomplishment is not celebrated, but basically (if barely) acknowledged.
(btw, so it's been awhile for Syracuse, they had a good day - not unprecedented by any means and not an historic margin of victory or even an overwhelming victory but a victory nonetheless to be celebrated. that's totally fine. they deserve acknowledgment and praise but more than someone who's accomplished something for the first time ever????)
