...and I realize that it is now in February (because of the Trials?), so not even spring. I have done a calendar search on marathonguide and all others in March, April and May seem to be "challenging" and "not a fast course". I am looking to break 3:00, but not going to happen on warm course with long stretches of hill....
Thanks, I thought that was still in summer. Unfortunately the pollen in Eugene wrecks me. I was hoping for CA or desert southwest, bit to no avail...

Ojai is fast (substantially net downhill) although I hear they've had some organizational issues.
Vancouver is also net downhill, and although it's probably not quite as fast it has a reputation for being well-organized.
rnr San Diego and Grandmas (in MN, not really the west I guess). there are others w/ fast courses that don't really produce fast times because they offer low or no amounts of prize money.

Ojai is now Mountains to Beach and has a significant amount of downhill, if your quads can take the beating you can get a good time. I've heard OC marathon has a favorable course but I haven't run that one. Surf City is a good course as well but the out-and-back along the bike path can be annoying.

I think that one might be exactly what I'm looking for: fast but fair, reliably cool conditions, no wind, beautiful course at exactly the right time for my training window. Thanks very much!
