Hey all you hobby joggers, only one week til your turkey trots!

You know it!!! This is one of the two biggest days of the hobby jogger year along with July 4th.

Four whole days I can get some real training in.

I freaking love the Turkey Trot. Great chance to catch up with old friends, test out our competitiveness, make fun of friends who are out of shape (lightheartedly of course), shout at the NCAA runners blowing past us that we used to be able to do that, etc. Without question one of my favorite days of the year, and I mean that. OP sounds pretty bitter to me! Long live the Turkey Trot.

Me too! I have run the same turkey trot for over two decades. I see old friends, get in a competitive effort, and burn some turkey calories. A group of old friends gather at the finish to reconnect before heading to our family gatherings.

I love the turkey trot and Thanksgiving Day.

Actually Meb and the others are accomplished enough to feel secure without trying to humiliate others. That's why you never hear an Olympic medalist point out that he is better than the sad sacks who only run 14:30 for a 5k.

I won my Turkey Trot over 2,000 other people once, beat a few guys on D-1 scholarships. Of course I wasn't as good as most the people here, who apparently can all break 13:10 for 5K. But I was decent.

Only 3 days left. Are you ready?

Yes, ready..best training since 2007, but I'll still get beat by the guy dressed up like a turkey and feel bad about it all day.

It is usually some former runner who ran under 14 in college, but is now older, and reads posts from some little 15+ punk who is impressed with himself in a local 300 person road race on Thanksgiving.

I plan on dressing like that cranberry sauce that is the least liked part of the Thanksgiving meal, then being the least liked person at the race, acting like a total jerk to anyone who can't pull at at least a 13:3x and wondering aloud why anyone would spend $25 to "basically walk" in the cold.

Anyone who finishes behind you in races. They are not interested in time or place.

You are always the slowest runner who cares about time and place. (And anyone ahead of you is either a genetic freak or doped ... or both.)
