In my late 20s, have been basically using my college training for 5 years now. I can now clip off a 5 mile tempo almost as fast as I ran an 8K in college (25:04), have never felt stronger. I know this is my "prime."
I mainly just do 5ks and 8ks on the road now but I ran a 4:09 mile, 3:52 1500M and 1:52 800M in college. To be honest I am pretty sure I could run a 400M faster now than I ever and I could beat all those PRs (this might be wishful thinking).
At what age did your body start breaking down? I keep reading all these threads about guys in their early 40s who can barely keep up playing with their 8 year old kids. I feel like that 1) really isn't that far off and I if I can break off a 50 flat 400M or 4:10 mile how do you get so out of shape you can't keep up with a toddler and 2) what injuries should I be on the lookout for (I only get stress fractures).
I realistically will be a lot slower at 40 than 28 but is it possible to think I could PR at like 36, even for a mile?
